Comments by one of the contributors.
An excellent collection of thoughful review articles on patterns of ancient trade and exchange. There are nine chapters, covering the Chaco Anasazi (F. Mathien), Northern Anasazi (E. Blinman & C.D. Wilson), Hohokam (R. McGuire), marine shell exchange in N. Mexico and the SW (R. Bradley), Mesoamerican turquoise (P. Weigand & G. Harbottle), Mexico (R. Santley & C. Pool), lowland Maya (P. McAnany), and southern Central America (J. Hoopes). The introductory chapter by Baugh and Ericson provides a good overview of relevant archaeological theory.

Great Book with Good Contributed Articles
A great book! This has a little of everything: warfare, Mesoamerican interaction, networks and exchange, Fremont and Virgin Anasazi (Ancestral Puebloan), Hohokam, Mogollon, Pacquime; not to mention textiles and flower images, modern material cultural studies and language interaction. A first rate publication that helps in clarifying current issues and ideas about regional interaction in the Southwest. I think serious scholars will refer to this time and again!

Auction Tracker: The Perfect Method for Organizing Your Online Sales & Purchases
Published in Paperback by Collector Books (August, 2000)
Author: Collector Books
Average review score:

This has helped me greatly on ebay and amazon auctions!
I buy and sell often on ebay, amazon, and yahoo.....mostly for fun, not profit. I found it hard to keep up with all of my transactions; I hated using the software programs for my little 'business' but this new notebook type record book has done it for me. It is simply a notebook full of blank record pages on which you can keep your notes; it even helps me keep track of the stuff I want to bid on while waiting for the close of the auction to get closer (what that means is no more bookmarked pages and hundreds of postit notes all over my computer!). A very simple product, at a good price that made my life much easier! You can also buy refill pages for the notebooks by the way. Highly recommended.

B2B and Beyond: New Business Models Built on Trust
Published in Hardcover by John Wiley & Sons (14 September, 2001)
Author: Harry B. DeMaio
Average review score:

Terrific primer on a complicated subject
I just finished reading this book and recommend it enthusiastically to anybody interested in how B2Bs and extended enterprises must work in the future. The book is broken down into 3 parts: Part 1 explains how B2Bs interact and how trust plays a critical role, Part 2 discusses the concept of e-Trust and business processes by industry, and Part 3 discusses e-infrastructure, security, and controls on a more technical level. Overall, the author manages to provide clear and comprehensive coverage on an exremely challenging, constantly evolving subject.

The Baltic and North Seas (Seas in History)
Published in Hardcover by Routledge (March, 2000)
Authors: David Kirby Kirby, Merja-Liisa Hinkkanen, and D. G. Kirby
Average review score:

A feeling for the northern seas
Written by two well-known historians of the Baltic/ Scandinavian region, this book breaks ground in the way it presents the history of the two major seas of Northern Europe: we get away from a "names-dates-events" approach to a more holistic view of the term "history" with repsect to the Baltic and North Seas. It is not only people and institutions who figure in this book, but the seas themselves, beginning from their formation. The book examines such questions as how the presence of these seas influenced life around them, ranging from trade and the technology of sailing to the use of the shoreline for livelihood and recreation.

Parts of this book 'feel' very visual in nature, though there are rather few (but well chosen) illustrations. Indeed, one could envision a six-part television series based on this book -- the sort of thing the BBC or Discovery or History Channel do well.

Too bad about the price -- bring out a paperback edition!

The Bargain Hunter's Handbook: How to Buy Just About Anything for Next to Nothing
Published in Paperback by Career Press (July, 1999)
Authors: Rob Adams and Terry Adams
Average review score:

A Real Bargain
I love bargains, and I've had pretty good luck bargain hunting in the past, so I wasn't sure I'd learn anything new from this book. Happily, I was wrong! The Bargain Hunter's Handbook starts out with the 12 Secrets of the Bargain-Seeker. They're fairly common sense tips, but it never hurts to have a reminder. And within the 12 Secrets, they give some small examples of how to use the tips. The rest of the book is dedicated to big examples in specific areas, like shopping for cars, homes, and medical care (that was a new one on me), or just plain shopping. One of my favorite parts are the sidebars -- called "The Bargain Hunters Journal." They're quick snappy examples of successful bargain hunting, and easy to find, since they're along the outside edge of the right-hand pages. The examples illustrate how the tips can work for you, and, if you're anything like me, they'll get your mind working overtime on where and how you can try out the Bargain-Seekers Secrets. I consider myself a pretty savvy shopper, but if I've got a high school degree in Bargain Hunting, authors Rob and Terry Adams have Ph.Ds. However, with The Bargain Hunter Handbook in tow, I'm on my way to graduation.. and to the mall.

Excellent
This book is choc full of great information and resources aimed at getting your craft business online and making it work once it's there. Also, all the links in this book go where they are supposed to, so I wasn't frustrated by a load of error 404s. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in selling crafts or artwork online.
